How old does my child have to be to sign up for driver's education?
Your child should be at least 14 1/2 years old. The law states that the student has 13 months from the completion of the classroom portion of driver's ed to obtain their instruction permit. Your child has to be 15 1/2 to obtain their instruction permit. Your child has to have their instruction permit before they can start behind the wheel lessons. The first behind the wheel lesson MUST be scheduled within 60 days of obtaining their instruction permit.
How long does my child have to have their instruction permit before they can test for their drivers license?
Your child has to have their instruction permit for 6 months before they are eligible to test for their drivers license (take the road test).
How does my child schedule behind the wheel lessons?
From your child's school home page, click on the "behind the wheel schedule" link; when the calendar comes up, choose 1-4 dates and times that work for your child's schedule; go to the top of the calendar and click on the "email us your desired dates" link and when the form comes up, fill it out and email it to us. You will receive a confirmation email from us informing you and your child if they have been scheduled for the dates/times they requested.
Your child has 6 MONTHS to get 6 BEHIND THE WHEEL LESSONS done; if you schedule two a month when they get their temps, they will have completed all their behind the wheel lessons in 3 months. PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL YOUR JUST DRIVE SCHOOL SAYING "MY CHILD STILL NEEDS TO GET X NUMBER OF LESSONS IN BEFORE THEIR TEST THAT IS SCHEDULED NEXT MONTH."
**Please do not schedule more than two behind the wheels lessons a month. The reason you might request four dates/times would be in case we weren't able to schedule your child for one or more of the other requested dates, we would have addditional choices.
Can my child take the classroom portion of driver's education at one just drive location and behind the wheel at another just drive location?
No, each just drive school is independently owned and operated.
